Duplicate Project
QuickPlanX empowers you to create and manage complex projects efficiently. When you need to quickly create a duplicate project, either of the entire project or a specific branch, this guide will show you two simple methods to achieve this within QuickPlanX.
Duplicate Entire Project or Subproject
Tap the "···" button on the toolbar and choose "Duplicate to New Project". The entire project will be duplicated (if a subproject is currently active, the entire subproject will be duplicated).
Save Selected Branch to a New Project
- Select your starting point: Choose the entire project, a group task, or a subproject task you want to duplicate.
- Access the context menu:
- Mac: Right-click (or Ctrl + click) on the selected node to open the context menu
- iOS: Tap the "···" button on the action bar to open the context menu
- Navigate and duplicate: In the context menu, select "Export" → "Duplicate to New Project" and click it.
Duplication Options
The duplication feature offers several options to control the content in the duplicated project:
- Create an empty project with settings but without tasks from the source project. This is useful when you need to reuse project settings, including team configurations, for another project with the same team.
- Create a project covering a specific date range. This is valuable for reporting, analysis, and communication purposes.
- Create a project with tasks for specific resources only. This is excellent for team communication, such as meetings with individual team members or sub-teams.
Tips
Using Projects as Templates
The major benefit of the duplication function is the ability to use any project (or part of any project) as a template. See details
Export to File
QuickPlanX also supports exporting the entire project or a specific branch to a QuickPlanX file with .quickplanx file extension. This offers another powerful option for replicating chart data.
Duplicating and exporting/importing have different benefits. Choose the method based on your specific needs.
