Creating Tasks in Column View

QuickPlanX offers a Column view for managing project tasks, which presents your project structure in a series of columns—much like the column view in the Finder app on Mac. This layout makes it easy to navigate, organize, and maintain complex task hierarchies with clarity and efficiency.

Getting Started​

The Column view offers an alternative way to manage your project's task hierarchy, presenting tasks in a clear, column-based layout. Most operations in the Column view are similar to those in the Tree view, including keyboard shortcuts on Mac, the action bar on iOS, as well as support for copy-and-paste and drag-and-drop.

A key advantage of the Column view is that each task element displays a contextual menu directly within the task element, enabling you to perform task management actions more quickly and efficiently.

Keyboard shortcuts on Mac and the action bar on iOS work in the Column view just as they do in the Tree view. The Column view also supports convenient drag-and-drop and copy-and-paste operations for flexible task management.

Tips​

  • The Column view provides an intuitive and familiar way to build and visualize your project's task hierarchy, especially if you are used to the Finder app's column view on Mac.
  • The Column view is not intended to replace the Table, Gantt Chart, or Tree views; rather, it provides an additional representation of your project and an alternative way to maintain tasks.
  • While it's common to create tasks and adjust their hierarchy in the Table View or Gantt Chart, you can also build your task tree in the Tree or Column view first, then switch to your preferred view to update task details.
  • The Column view supports drag-and-drop, making it easy to reorganize tasks and adjust the structure as your project evolves.
  • Even if you are already comfortable with these basic features, we encourage you to explore the advanced options below to further enhance your productivity.
