Managing Task Hierarchy

Tasks in QuickPlanX are organized in a tree structure, allowing you to adjust the position of any task within the hierarchy to better reflect your project organization.

Drag & Drop​

Tree and Column Views display tasks in their hierarchical structure, making it intuitive and natural to visualize the actual organization. Drag & Drop operations provide a direct and efficient way to adjust task hierarchy and restructure your project tree.

Indent & Outdent​

Indent and Outdent are familiar methods for adjusting task hierarchy when tasks are displayed in a list format. The Table View and Gantt Chart present tasks as a list and support indenting and outdenting selected tasks to modify their hierarchy level.

Keyboard Shortcuts (Mac)​

  • Indent: ⌘ + ] (Command + Right Bracket)
  • Outdent: ⌘ + [ (Command + Left Bracket)

Action Bar Menu (iPhone and iPad)​

Select and focus on a task, then tap the indent or outdent option in the action bar menu.

Tips​

  • Tree View and Column View are most intuitive for managing hierarchical structure — we recommend using these views when reorganizing task hierarchy.
  • When creating tasks in Table View and Gantt Chart, you can simultaneously adjust task hierarchy as you work. See details
