Spreadsheet Apps Integration

MS Excel, Apple Numbers, and Google Sheets are popular tools that many users are already comfortable with. For new projects, it's often a good practice to prepare your task list in these spreadsheet apps—either by entering data manually or by copying from other sources.

QuickPlanX Spreadsheet

QuickPlanX makes it easy to create tasks by pasting multiline text, as described above—so you can start by copying the task names directly from your spreadsheet into QuickPlanX to quickly build your task structure.

Additionally, the Table view in QuickPlanX supports updating multiple cells at once by copying and pasting data from your spreadsheet. This means you can efficiently update task properties (such as start/end dates, resources, or costs) by copying multiple cells from Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets and pasting them into the corresponding columns in QuickPlanX.

Demo

The video below demonstrates how to create a new project by copying data from Apple Number:

limitations

Please note the following limitations when performing batch cell updates:

  • The app does not allow simultaneous updates to the Start, Finish, and Days columns to prevent logical conflicts. Only one of these columns can be modified at a time during a batch update.
  • Before updating resource assignments or contacts via copy/paste, ensure that all necessary resources have been added to the project in advance.

Tips

As shown in the demo, QuickPlanX makes it easy and flexible to work with MS Excel, Apple Numbers, or Google Sheets. This seamless interaction is why there is no dedicated "import from Excel" function—copying and pasting provides greater flexibility for both creating new projects and updating existing ones.

Another recommended practice when starting a new project — before finalizing it — is to export your project to CSV, update task properties in MS Excel, and then copy the changes back into the QuickPlanX Table view.

We suggest using this workflow prior to finalizing your project for the first time. While this batch update method also works after a project is finalized, if you are not familiar with it, there is a risk of unintentionally altering your task data.
