Managing Subprojects
In QuickPlanX, a standalone project is referred to as the "main project," and it can contain multiple subprojects. Each subproject can also include its own subprojects, resulting in a tree structure of unlimited depth. The subproject navigator helps you easily switch between the main project and any of its subprojects at different levels within this hierarchy.
Opening a Subproject
There are several ways to open a subproject:
Keyboard Shortcut
On Mac, select a subproject task and press the space
key to open the selected subproject. This shortcut works in all views (Table, Gantt Chart, Tree, and Column).
Context Menu
- Select a subproject task.
- Open the context menu (right-click on Mac or ctrl+click) or access the action bar menu (on iOS devices), depending on your current view:
- Table View: Right-click the "WBS" cell of the subproject task on Mac, or select to active the "WBS" cell and or via the button or menu on action bar on iOS devices
- Gantt Chart: Right-click the taskbar of the subproject task on Mac, or via the button or menu on action bar on iOS devices
- Tree and Column Views: Right-click the task element of the subproject task on Mac, or via the button or menu on action bar on iOS devices
- Choose the option to open the subproject in the current project window.
Subproject Icon on Taskbar
In the Gantt Chart view, a subproject icon appears before the subproject taskbar. Click or tap this icon and select the option to open the subproject.
Navigating the Subproject Tree
When a subproject is open, the subproject navigator appears below the toolbar and above the main content area. This navigator displays the path from the main project to the currently open subproject (subprojects can themselves contain further subprojects). Tap or click any project name in the path to quickly jump to that project level.
Closing a Subproject
To close the current subproject and return to its parent project, tap the "˄ Parent Project
" button. You can also use the subproject navigator to move back to any parent project in the hierarchy.
